Privacy Policy

Vivid is a private journal. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the app touches, where it lives, and the optional diagnostic information we collect to keep the app working well. Vivid is made by The Likeli Lab LLC (“we”, “us”), 701 South St. Ste 100, Mountain Home, AR 72653, United States.

The Short Version

• Your journal stays yours. Entries, moods, tracker values, photos, and drawings are stored on your device and in your personal iCloud. We never receive, read, or store them.
• No accounts, ads, or cross-app ad tracking.Vivid has no sign-up, shows no ads, uses no advertising identifiers, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
• Optional pseudonymous diagnostics— feature usage and crash reports, never what you wrote, tracked, or felt. One app setting controls both and can be turned off at any time.

Your Journal Data

Everything you create in Vivid — journal entries, moods, habit and tracker logs, to-dos, reading lists, photos, and drawings — is stored on your device, protected by iOS encryption. If iCloud sync is available, that data also syncs through your personal iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit private database. Only your Apple account can read it. We operate no servers that hold your journal, and we have no technical ability to access it.

Deleting is real.If you delete the app and its iCloud data, your journal is gone. We keep no copies. You can also export your data at any time (CSV, JSON, or a full backup) from Settings → Export.

Health Data

If you grant permission, Vivid reads data from Apple Health (such as steps, sleep, or cycle data) to auto-fill your trackers, and can write back manual logs you make (such as water). Health data stays on your device and in your private iCloud like the rest of your journal. It is never transmitted to us, included in analytics, or sent by Vivid anywhere other than Apple Health and iCloud under your Apple account. It is never used for advertising. You can revoke Health access at any time in iOS Settings.

Pseudonymous Usage Analytics

To understand which features get used and to catch problems, Vivid collects a small amount of pseudonymous usage data using Google Firebase Analytics:

• Feature events— for example “a tracker widget was added,” “onboarding was completed,” or “the paywall was viewed.” Events never include journal text, tracker values, mood choices, names you give widgets, or anything else you write.
• Random app identifiers— a Firebase app-instance ID and Apple’s per-developer device identifier (IDFV). These are not linked to your name, email, or Apple account. Vivid does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).
• Session and device basics— app version, device model, OS version, country-level region.

You can turn this offin the app under Settings → Privacy & Data → “Share Usage & Crash Diagnostics.” Turning it off stops new analytics events and nonfatal reports immediately, deletes unsent crash reports, and disables future crash-report uploads after the app next launches. Analytics data already sent is retained by Firebase for at most 14 months. Google processes this data on our behalf; see Google’s Privacy Policy (opens in new tab).

Apple Ads Attribution

If diagnostics are enabled when Vivid performs its one-time install check, the app may ask Apple whether the install came from an Apple Ads campaign. Vivid sends Apple an AdServices attribution token and may receive numeric campaign and keyword identifiers, which are recorded with our pseudonymous analytics. This does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) or track you across other companies’ apps or websites. If diagnostics are disabled before the check, Vivid does not request the token and does not fill in attribution later.

Crash Reports

If the app crashes, a crash report (stack trace, device model, OS version, app version) is sent to us via Firebase Crashlytics so we can find and fix the bug. Crash reports contain no journal content and are not linked to your name, email, or Apple account. The in-app diagnostics switch controls crash reporting and usage analytics together.

Feedback You Send Us

If you use the in-app feedback form, we receive the message you type and, only if you choose to provide it, your email address so we can reply. If you submit the optional product survey, we receive the answer you select and any follow-up text you enter; that survey does not ask for an email address. Both routes also send their category, app version and build, iOS version, device model, plan tier, and locale. We do not attach your analytics identifier or event history. If you provide an email address, it is stored with your message and may link that submission to you. Feedback and survey answers are used solely to improve the app and, when requested, respond to you. Email us to have identifiable feedback deleted; submissions without an email expire under the retention period below because we cannot reliably identify which anonymous submission was yours.

Book Search

When you search for a book in the reading tracker, your search terms (or a scanned ISBN) are sent to Open Library and Google Books to fetch results and cover images. We do not store these queries. The books you save stay in your journal like everything else.

Purchases

Subscriptions and purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. Our analytics may record that a pseudonymous verified purchase occurred, including the product, price, and currency, to measure whether the app is sustainable. We do not receive your payment method, receipt, name, email, or Apple account through analytics. Apple’s handling of payment data is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy (opens in new tab).

What We Don’t Do

• We do not sell or rent your personal information, or disclose it to data brokers or advertisers. The service providers listed below process only the limited data needed for their disclosed functions. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act.
• We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).
• We do not upload your journal, your photos, your health data, or your dictation audio anywhere except your own iCloud. Voice transcription runs on your device.

Data Retention

• Journal data: under your control, on your device and in your iCloud. We hold none of it.
• Analytics and crash data: analytics data is retained for up to 14 months; crash-report retention follows the configured Firebase Crashlytics retention period.
• Feedback: kept while we work on it and for up to 365 days, or deleted earlier on request when we can identify the submission from an optional email address.

Your Rights

Because almost all of your data lives only with you, the most direct way to exercise access or deletion rights is on-device: export from Settings → Export, or delete the app and its iCloud data. Depending on where you live (including the EU/EEA, UK, and California), you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to processing of personal data we do hold (analytics, crash reports, feedback). Email us at support@vivid.likelilab.com and we will help — note that because analytics identifiers are random and not linked to you, we often cannot associate analytics records with a specific person. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Vivid is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Service Providers

• Apple— iCloud/CloudKit sync, HealthKit, payments, notifications, and optional Apple Ads install attribution.
• Google Firebase— pseudonymous analytics, crash reporting, and the feedback inbox, as described above.
• Open Library & Google Books— book search and cover images.

Website Analytics

The public Vivid website uses Google Analytics 4 to measure page visits and actions such as guide navigation, support contacts, and App Store clicks. Website analytics may include a random browser identifier, approximate region, device and browser details, and the pages or links used. The website cannot access your Vivid journal, health data, or private iCloud content.

Security

Your journal is protected by iOS device encryption and Apple’s CloudKit security. Data we do receive (analytics, crashes, feedback) is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we deliberately minimize what we collect so there is very little to protect.

Changes to This Policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Material changes (such as collecting new categories of data) will also be announced in the app before they take effect.
